Arms: Gules, a Jupiterís thunderbolt, the flames issuant at each end of the shaft in the form of a protea, slipped and leaved, Argent.

Crest: Two gauntleted hands Argent grasping a flame issuant, Gules.

Wreath and Mantling: Argent and Gules.

Heraldic outline: The nature of our actions is displayed by the thunderbolts, indicating the inherent power of explosives. The presence of proteas denotes the South-African connection. The crest of the shield carries the logo of our Institute, gauntlets encircling a flame, signifying the motto: IGNEM CONTINEMUS (We control the fire).
